| Telangana, 3rd August, 2015: The Telangana Cable Association -SCTE and ESSCI, supported by industry leaders like Arris (formerly Motorola) hosted an intellectual seminar at the Youth Hostel, Secunderabad on 29th July, 2015. The seminar was organized to promote skill development in the state and to potencially certify more than ten thousand technical resources in the cable and broadband industry.
With the sunset date for analog cable looming large and the sunrise of digital cable, broadband, e-commerce and financial inclusion, todays technicians would need to be oriented and skilled. This would be pivotal to this successful transition.
SCTE, an apex global body for cable and broadband skilling and certification, and ESSCI have partnered with the Telangana Cable Association and Novacom, to bring forth this skilling transformation.
Mr. Subhash Reddy, the President of the Telangana Cable Operators Association who is the driving force of this initiative, said that his vision was to ensure that every cable operator across Telangana was informed and equipped to transform the Telangana Cable and Broadband Space as envisioned by Mr.Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
Mr. Rahul Nehra: National Secretary of SCTE India said that SCTE is thankful to the association and Mr. Reddy for driving this initiative, and hopes that this will go a long way in the digital transformation that is underway.
The first learning and certification centre is being established with the Novacom Group in Hyderabad and will expand to other centres across Telangana in a phased manner over the next one to two years.
This skilling initiative which will cover the whole of Telangana, and Hyderabad is expected to be one of the biggest initiatives in India. In Andhra Pradesh alone the target is to skill and certify more than ten thousand cable and broadband professionals. These skills will set the foundation of a digital telangana and assist in a robust implementation of the digital cable and broadband transition.
"In another global first, this one of its kind initiative, will go a step ahead in making the cable operator a harbinger of financial services and e-commerce for the banked and unbanked" said Mr. Sushil Chaudhary, MD of Mann India, whose company is actively supporting this initiative after their successful efforts globally in the financial inclusion space.
“Following this effort to provide skill enrichment and training, cable technicians, last mile cable operators and MSOs will transform themselves into skilled broadband technicians/engineers thereby transforming the customer experience of broadband, multi screen, ecommerce apart from enriching themselves and paving the way to make Telangana as Digital Telangana” said Mr. Manidhar of Novacom.
The occasion witnessed the unveiling of MSMS a concept which revolves around the television screen and helps the cable fraternity embrace the world of TV Commerce , TV Governance , TV Box Office which will bring Telangana to the forefront of a multi-screen led digital transformation.
